Our Approach

Mental Health is Part of Your Whole Health

At EURA, mental health care is not an afterthought — it is woven into the foundation of everything Eura does. Whether you are navigating the emotional aspects of transition, managing a longstanding condition, or simply need support, Eura provides affirming, judgment-free care that meets you where you are.

Affirming by Default

Every aspect of your care — including mental health — is delivered with your identity and lived experience at the center. You will never be asked to justify who you are.

Trauma-Informed Care

Eura recognizes that many LGBTQ+ patients carry histories of medical trauma, discrimination, or family rejection. Eura's approach is built around safety, trust, and moving at your pace.

Conditions We Treat

What Eura Can Help With

The following conditions are regularly treated at EURA. Additional conditions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis — reach out if you are unsure whether Eura can help.

Depression

Persistent low mood, loss of interest, fatigue, and changes in sleep or appetite. Eura assesses severity and offers medication management alongside supportive care.

Anxiety

Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic. Eura helps identify triggers, support medication options when appropriate, and connect you with behavioral health specialists.

PTSD

Post-traumatic stress arising from violence, discrimination, medical trauma, or other experiences. Eura takes a trauma-informed approach and refers to specialized therapists when indicated.

Gender Dysphoria

The distress that can arise from incongruence between one's gender identity and assigned sex. Addressed holistically alongside any hormone therapy or surgical planning.

Adjustment & Life Stress

Navigating family rejection, social transition, relationship changes, or workplace challenges. Short-term support and referrals to affirming community resources.

Other Conditions

Additional mental health conditions are evaluated individually. Contact us to discuss your situation — Eura will be straightforward about what can be provided and when a referral is the best path.

How Eura Provides Care

Two complementary pathways — medication management at EURA and behavioral therapy through trusted outside partners.

Medication Management
  • Clinical assessment to determine whether medication is appropriate for your situation
  • Prescribing and monitoring of antidepressants, anxiolytics, and related medications
  • Regular follow-up to assess response and adjust dosing
  • Monitoring for interactions with hormone therapy medications
  • Ongoing lab work where clinically indicated
  • Safe, informed tapering when discontinuing medications

Note: Medication is one tool — not a requirement. All options are discussed and your decision about whether medication is right for your care plan is respected.

Behavioral Health Referrals

For therapy and counseling, Eura connects you with a curated network of affirming, LGBTQ+-competent therapists and behavioral health specialists. You are never sent into the unknown.

  • Referrals to vetted, affirming therapists and counselors
  • Specialists in trauma, CBT, DBT, and gender-affirming therapy
  • Coordination between your therapist and EURA when appropriate
  • Support navigating insurance coverage for therapy
  • Community mental health and peer support resources

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a hormone therapy patient to access mental health support? +

No. Mental health services at EURA are available as a standalone service. You do not need to be receiving hormone therapy or any other treatment with us to be seen for mental health support.

Do you provide therapy directly? +

No. EURA does not provide talk therapy or behavioral health counseling directly. Eura offers medication management for select mental health conditions. For therapy, Eura refers to a trusted network of affirming outside providers and can coordinate with them when appropriate.

Will my mental health records be kept private? +

Yes. Your records are protected under HIPAA. Mental health notes are handled with the highest level of confidentiality. Eura never shares your information without your explicit consent, except as required by law.

Can you treat my condition alongside hormone therapy? +

Yes, and this integrated approach is one of EURA's strengths. Eura is mindful of how mental health medications interact with hormone therapy, and factors your full medication picture into every prescribing decision.

What if my condition isn't listed above? +

Reach out and share what you're experiencing. Eura evaluates additional conditions on a case-by-case basis and will always be honest about what falls within its scope and when a specialist is the better fit.
